Quite probably
one of the most famous clubs in the world, surprising really
when you consider that it's situated inside an old London Transport
bus depot, but then again the Paradise Garage was in an old garage
and it didn't do them any harm.
So what's it all about, Fridays and Saturdays really. Fridays are
Smoove, an Urban dance night with UK Garage, R & B, and Drum
and Bass. You'' regularly find Karl Brown, Matt Jam Lamont, EZ and
a cast of thousands down there, often with MC Ranking. The night
is in it's third year now and has "without doubt the sexiest
most stylish crowd in clubland", at least the MOS press blurb
say's that, hmm.
Saturdays used to be rulin' but now they're a bit more diverse.
It's a house night, four to the floor heaven and it even gets a
bit harder when people like Fergie arrive, the kind of thing they
used to do on Frisky Fridays some time ago. On monthly rotation
you have Defected Records, Tribalism, Future and Soul Heaven, all
top nights especially the Defected Sessions one of our favourite
labels and always featuring some top jocks like Sandy Rivera.
So what's it like once you manage to get through the front gates
and inside? The main area is the box, aptly named, it's shaped like
one and has one god almighty sound system plus the usual array of
intelligent lights, this is where the top guys play. We once caught
Roger Sanchez in there and it was of the best clubbing nights of
our life.
Next up is the bar, good place for people spotting, stand on the
walkway and see who you can see. Lastly there's the Baby Bar upstairs
at the back, small and intimate, but the sound system needs a bit
of an upgrade.
Overall you should have a good night in there but the surroundings
are not half as good as say "Pacha" for instance, still
you pays your money and makes your choice.
