DISCO NOIR, the night that has cut a new
edge for our region’s
Clubbing keeps it pledge to bring the mighty to the North East for
the third instalment of true Techno on FRIDAY MARCH 5TH 2004 the
long awaited and much anticipated arrival of the World’s leading
Techno DJ – JEFF MILLS.
Not since the heady days of legendary club night BLOATED has Jeff
been anywhere near Tyneside and this appearance comes after a long
and patient wait for all true Techno lovers.
After taking up the heritage of the "Techno fathers" Kevin
Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Derrick May and inaugurating the next sound
generation of the birth place of Techno, Detroit, this man founded
UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE and brought the Detroit Techno sound of the
early 90's into the clubs and onto turntables all over the world.
Jeff Mills recorded "Waveform Transmissions Vol. 1" in
1992 around the same time as founding his own AXIS label. This landmark
release was his first solo album revealing the state of Electronic
Music in 1992 and providing important hints for the future of the
genre at the same time. Even today there exists no other production
in this music style that has not been influenced by this album and
label: It truly is a guiding light.
Now based in Chicago, the world's most in-demand
DJ has continued to regularly set out for other cities like Paris,
London, Rome, Berlin
and Tokyo to fascinate audiences with his breathtakingly quick DJ
handcraft (he can blast through 10 tracks in ten minutes and you
just wouldn’t know it) and heart punching rhythms.
Now he touches down in Tyneside and we kid you not, if you have
ever professed to even like Techno this is the night the king ascends.
