Four
rather cool instrumentals allegedly hot in Miami recently. First
off is The Pleasure, bumps along nicely with some cool guitar
and keyz before the piano and horn section kicks in and the
occasional vox sample. Latino Directions is next with it's relentless
powerful groove and faded in jazz style guitar which leads into
a breakdown, surely not, it's not a trance thing, oh well even
the Americans submit to all things European dance. Kick's back
in without the aid of a machine gun snare and continues with
it's excellent keyz, guitars and thangs.
Next up is The Guitar Track and this is simply awesome with
another relentless groove and some moody horn sample's before
the piano start's up shortly followed by the horn section, an
underlying flute and some strings and it's not finished yet
as the jazz guitar enters the fray, very jazz funky. Finally
we have Deepstar, another fine rhythm track with strange synth
noises as the guitar riff is filtered in.
This is one top EP, find it if you can, you won't be disappointed.

This
has been around the block and then some, a powerful rhythm track
leads into the filtered sample of Idris Muhammed's, Could heaven
ever be like this and some weird Proteus noises before the vocal
starts and well worth the wait it is as well, this will have
the girlies around the handbags. Touted as a big one in Miami
recently and big it certainly will be, don't miss it.

Johnick
has cut up more disco tracks than I've had birthday cakes and
this is the latest in the line. You know the stuff, stuttering
rhythm track, a filtered sample, Gayle Adams we think and a
repetitive vocal sample. Young Villain starts of with some washed
strings before the stuttering almost regimental snares start
up. Leads to small breakdown in the middle and that's about
it really.
Flip it over and we hit a slower mellower groove with a cool
bassline and all sorts of percussion things going on before
the string sample from the Trammps starts up.

OK
before we start let's get things straight, Sharp are the absolute
business so you can be assured of a totally unbiased review.
Get on up kicks as you would expect it to using the vox from
boogie oogie oogie and a repetitive sample and filtered bits.
Breaksdown with a Mantronix style bassline and filtered samples
before it kicks off again.
Flip it over and shock, gasp, horror a Sharp mix that's not
130bpm but 133. Starts off with percussion before the in ya
face kick hits you between the eyes, breaks down with Sylvester's
Stars vocal sample and then its full speed ahead with an almost
Public Enemy like noise. Breaks down again, different this time,
you'll like it. Nice long outro for mixers.

track and sampling T-Connections do what you wanna percussion
before the filtered vox starts and breaksdown no sooner than
it's started and then its full speed ahead with some nice strings
and horns. Another breakdown after some nice percussion and
to a look outro, great for mixing. You even get an accapella
on the flip side.

Starts
of with percussion and weird noises before the powerful rhythm
track starts and the filtered bits nicely sampled and looped.
Vocal starts in a semi-breakdown with some Latin style percussion,
piano and horns hanging about in the background. Shawnee sings
her heart out, very nice with some diva type moments. Flip it
over for a percussive, faster dub-style workout with lots of
synth and keyz noises and the occasional vocal sample.
