Full Intention feat. Thea Austin - Soul Power
Label: German Peppermint Jam promo
Mixes & BPM:
Full Intention Main Mix - 125.9 Full Intention Vocal Mix - 125.9 Accapella
|
Slightly different from the stuff that they've been doing on D'tension. More on a funky house tip but missing the real powerfull rhythm track that is usually their trademark. So what is it like, a funky ass bass & beat and plucked guitar, a few synth noises and Ms Austin repeating "Soul Power".
Flip it over and you'll find the full vocal mix, an all together better mix, nice beats, some 70's style synth and pads and Ms Austin 's singing + not forgetting the accapella.

Cool House Hustlers - Nothing Better
Label: UK White Label
Mixes & BPM:
a side - 125.6
b side - 125.6
|
Driving almost old style house beat with the handclaps and busy bass, filtered vocal is slowly introduced before it really gets going with funky rhythm guitar and rattling percussion, filtered breakdown with the vox and off of it goes again, one more breakdown, similar to the first and to the outro.
The b side is a more dubby affair, same format though, two filtered breaks.

Mind Influence Presents The Solid Gold Playaz - The Best Part
Label: US Soul Furic Trax Test Press
Mixes & BPM:
Copyright Remix - 125 Original Mix - 125.3 SWAT cover up remix (DJ Rasoul & Kwai Le Chief) - 124.5

Quite possibly one of the most consistent labels on the planet, this is another track that will not let you down, crisp driving beats and faded in keyz and funky ass bass, before it breaksdown to some cool electric piano and the repeated vocal line before it kicks off again with the piano line repeated over and over again before it's replaced by the guitar, switches back and forth between the piano and guitar before the nice long outro for mixing. The original uses the same ingredients with a more stuttering beat and lots of piano and vocal repetition.
Swat mix has almost speed garage type beats and repeats the main ingredients over and over.

Lenny Fontana presents Byron Stingily - Light My Fire
Label: US Odyssey Records
Mixes & BPM:
Vocal Mix - 127
Groovin' Dub - 127
Groovin' Dub Instrumental - 127
|
Every now and again a record comes along that sends shivers up your spine. Now while we freely admit that Byron possesses one of the best voices around this in no way makes us biased. Starts with a long intro (perfect for mixing) introducing a filtered sample before chorused vox enters the fray, breaksdown and there it is, that voice, majestic, along with a repetitive horn. At the break the horn kicks in, nice, before the voice returns again and a nice mix out.
Flip it over and we get a dub, more of the same groove but with a repeated piano riff and horn stabs + some vox snippets and now a little organ riff, the instrumental is the same but with no vox, don't miss it, top class.

Michelle Weeks - The Light

Mixes & BPM:
UBP Classic mix - 127
jazz n groove prime time dub - 127
jazz n groove beats - 127

Soulfuric are one top label turning class tunes out time after time, and this is another one of them. Solid intro groove gives way to some electric piano before the funky ass bass and plucked guitar start. Breaksdown with some synth and Michelle's spoken word before the full vocal starts, this keeps on to another breakdown followed by some more vox and solid outro.
On the flip it's more a groove, top bassline over a solid rhythm track and repeated stabs, breaksdown and comes back with a plucked guitar sample and the occasional vox.

Groove Junkies pres Solomon Henderson - Inside My Soul
Label: US MoreHouse
Mixes & BPM:
Classic Vox Mix - 126 Soul Excursion dub mix - 126 Reprise mix - 126
|
Starts with a good solid rhythm track before the piano riff starts followed by funky ass bass and horn and a cool male vocal. The nice laid back vocal performance keeps it nicely understated repeating "inside my soul". Short synth solo follows before it all starts back again, breaksdown a couple of more times, has a bit of horn, it's a good groove really.
Flip is more of the same without the full vocal and instead introducing a "keep it funky" line and a pumping bassline. Reprise mix does what it says on the tin but with a long beatless intro
